hippo Configurations

hippo™ can be configured to run in different scenarios. Here are the most common.

Single PC Environment (Click on the image to see a larger version.) In this configuration, the hippo™ server and the hippo™ client run on a single PC. The PC requires XP Professional to be able to run both components. This machine could be a laptop that could be taken to work and the office. It could also be a desktop that stays at one location.

Office LAN Environment (Click on the image to see a larger version.) In this configuration, the hippo™ server is housed at your office and all connectivity is done from within your own local area network. If you don't feel comfortable with your network being connected to the internet, this configuration is ideal for you. In this configuration, the server and client components of the software can run on the same machine if you are a small facility, provided the machine meets the system requirements for both components.

Office WAN Environment (Click on the image to see a larger version.) In this configuration, the hippo™ server is housed at your office. Your office computers connect through your local area network and your home computer connects over the internet from any location you choose. This gives you the flexibility to connect from home to complete the clerical work after a long day in the office.

Hosted Environment (Click on the image to see a larger version.) In this configuration, the hippo™ server is housed at our facility. Your computer connects over the internet from any location you choose. This gives you the most flexibility as well as the best security for your data. The hippo™ server is behind a secure firewall and connections are only allowed through SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).
